Dahoam1516 is a nonprofit school, learning community and event space in Alameda. Small groups learn to brew, cook and grow the traditional way, then share it around one table. A local third place – borrowing its name from the Bavarian "at home": a place you want to go to.

Like being at home, with more to learn
Every class is built around doing the work together, at a pace for first-timers. You leave with the skill, the recipe and new neighbors.
All classes are taught in English.

Their beer making class was a delightful afternoon in a lovely setting.
I attended a beer making class with the Alameda Elks and I had an absolute blast! Hans is a gracious host with a true appreciation for beer and beer making. The snacks and soft pretzels were superb. The garden was stunning and the beer was delicious. I will definitely be back!

My friends and I had a marvelous time with Hans and Pedro at our dahoam1516 beer making class. The beer and food were delicious. We were treated with great hospitality and my husband, who uses a wheelchair, was accompanied in every way possible. Their playful creativity made this a fun experience for us all.
Had a great time! Went with two friends. Food was yummy, tasted many beers and found my favorite. Hans was enjoyable to talk with and so welcoming. Learned a bit of history including a grain war.
Five stars for Dahoam in Alameda! We attended a gardening event and my kids loved it so much we signed up for more. It’s a welcoming, neighborly space that offers a bit of everything. I even took a brewing class and realized it’s much more approachable than I thought! It’s rare to find a non-profit that engages both kids and adults so effectively. We’ll definitely be regulars.

We had the pleasure to host Hans, Dahoam1516... and the team at the Downtown Alameda Beer Stroll. The compliments never stopped coming about the quality of their beer, and they did a wonderful job educating everyone about the German beers they brew.
Love this little gem. The garden is lovely any time of the year. The cooking classes offered are Bavarian centric, think sausage, schnitzel, Ghoulash. The seasonal classes have included christmas cookies, chocolate Easter eggs )even a pickling class for all that extra zucchini!!! This is a wonderful experience for all ages.
I booked a team event at Dahoam and we had so much fun! My goal was just to find an activity that was not too involved/demanding so we would have time to actually talk and catch up, but would be more enticing than just happy hour. It definitely exceeded expectations and was a perfect team/small group activity!
